Research

The research activity is greatly important within a sustainable use system of natural resources and conservation of habitats. The research results are the basis for the Ecoherba – Bioflora ApuseniSystem’s functioning strategy. At the same time, they are used in developing certain scenarios and models according to which the action direction of the system is guided.

The research activity started within Apuseni Project – a chance for Motzen Land and continued withinArnica Project (for details see History of the System). It was very diverse, starting by the study of socioeconomic conditions and ending by analysis within some stand experimental fields. The research continued during 2009-2012, when the teaching staff and PhD students of departments of Grasslands Culture and Ecologic Grassland Science have developed two research projects financed by UEFISCDI (uefiscdi.gov.ro), as follows: Conservation of Arnica montana ecosystems biodiversity through sustainable use (PN II program, IDEI – PCE Projects subprogram, project no. 1485, contract no. 1099/2009, www.usamvcluj.ro/PNII1099/) and New approaches concerning sustainable use of secondary grasslands in order to maintain the specific cultural landscape (PN II program, IDEI – PCE Projects subprogram, project no. 1501, contract no 1090/2009, www.usamvcluj.ro/PNII1090/).

In present, the research is performed on one side by the staff of the system and on the other side by the teaching staff of departments of Grasslands Culture and Ecologic Grassland Science within the Faculty of Agriculture in Cluj-Napoca (UASVM Cluj-Napoca).
